Volunteer with A.L.I.F. and help keep children connected to their families and to the Arabic language and culture. We offer live online Arabic classes for K-12 students across the United States, and we run on the time and talent of people like you. Volunteer from anywhere, for as little as one hour a week. Volunteer opportunities

Hours are estimates per week. All roles can be done remotely. Roles that work directly with students require a background check and child-safety training. Not sure where to start? Choose “Flexible / Where needed most” on the form and we will match you to a role.

Working with students

• Conversation Partner (1-2 hrs/week): practice spoken Arabic with students in small online groups.
• Classroom Assistant (2-4 hrs/week): help the teacher with breakout rooms, attendance, and technical support during live classes.
• Homework and Tutoring Helper (1-3 hrs/week): give one-on-one or small-group support to students who need extra practice.
• Guest Speaker or Cultural Presenter (1-2 hrs per session): share a story, tradition, food, music, or career experience with a class.

Raising funds

• Grant Researcher or Writer (3-6 hrs/week): find funders and help draft grant applications and reports.
• Donor Outreach Volunteer (2-4 hrs/week): write personal letters, make thank-you calls, and follow up with supporters.
• House Party Host (event-based): host a small gathering, in person or online, to introduce A.L.I.F. to friends and colleagues.
• Workplace Giving Ambassador (1-3 hrs/week): help start a giving or matching-gift program at your workplace.
• Annual Event Committee Member (2-5 hrs/week): help plan our special annual fundraising event.

Reaching families and schools

• School Outreach Volunteer (2-4 hrs/week): contact school counselors and curriculum staff about A.L.I.F. courses and credit.
• Community Outreach Volunteer (1-3 hrs/week): share A.L.I.F. with community groups, libraries, parent networks, and student organizations.
• Parent and Family Liaison (2-4 hrs/week): answer families’ questions, welcome new students, and help with enrollment.

Communications and creative

• Social Media Volunteer (2-4 hrs/week): create and schedule posts and share student highlights.
• Graphic Designer (2-4 hrs/week): design flyers, social graphics, and newsletters.
• Photographer or Video Editor (2-4 hrs/week): edit class highlights and short promotional videos.
• Writer or Newsletter Editor (2-3 hrs/week): write stories and updates for our website and newsletter.
• Translator or Proofreader (1-3 hrs/week): translate or proofread materials in Arabic and English.

Curriculum and operations

• Curriculum Support (2-5 hrs/week): help develop or review lesson materials and activities aligned to the ACTFL standards.
• Website and Tech Volunteer (2-4 hrs/week): help maintain the website, forms, and online class tools.
• Data and Records Assistant (2-3 hrs/week): keep donor, student, and volunteer records organized.
• Bookkeeping and Finance Support (2-4 hrs/week): help with bookkeeping, receipts, and financial reporting.
• Board or Advisory Committee Member (2-4 hrs/week): provide guidance on strategy, fundraising, or accreditation.
